MARCH EVENTS
By Danielle Sabalvaro.
Editor’s Note: March is here! And we couldn’t be more thrilled. With the start of this month, we’re on the cusp of all sorts of bright new things—especially that wonderful thing you may have forgotten for how long it feels since the last one: spring. It’s nearly imperceptible, but we swear it’s starting to inch its way into each day. Here are all of the almost-spring things we can’t wait for. See you there? We’ll be the ones speedily shaking off our winter layers at the first hint of warmth.

Obsessive Reductive February 1, 2014 – March 30, 2014, at the Museum of Craft and Design, San Francisco. This innovative group exhibition features 18 artists working in a variety of media including paper, wood and metal. Participating artists share the common process of intricately, precisely and “obsessively” removing material to create extraordinary imagery and sculpture. Many works have reticulating patterns, and in some, the absence of material is employed as a significant design element positioning negative space as a dominant element. The visual similarity of all featured works is the concentrated detail and complexity of the work, despite the various approaches and media. Exhibition curated by Marc D’ Estout. Exhibition design by Ted Cohen.
